I am an Assistant Professor of Behavioral Science and Economics at The University of Chicago Booth School of Business. I research the intersection of economics and psychology, primarily in low- and middle-income countries. Under this broad agenda, my research can be grouped into three main categories. First, I am interested in how individuals make decisions that may advance or impede poverty alleviation such as deciding whether to adopt a profitable technology. Second, I am interested in how poverty shapes children’s cognitive development and which interventions can help. Finally, I am interested in the economic impacts of gender norms. I hope that by improving our understanding of these relationships, my research can provide guidance to policy makers on the best ways to improve global equity.
